As for Sarah Palin, I have no respect for her. She talks about conservativism, but doesn't practice those values. She's simply an self-serving, faithless liar. Criticizing her for that is not a criticism of the conservative movement. Calling her to task is not being politically correct. It's calling a spade a spade.
Also, in response to these questions, she has recently clarified that a judge follows the law regardless of personal background.
Regarding the recent reversal, from what I've read, Sotomayor joined a ruling that followed prior rulings of her circuit. Far from being "activist" judges, the panel on which Sotomayor participated seems to have made an honest effort to respect what little precedent there was in this matter.
The US Supreme Court made a 5-4 decision, which added clarification to the Civil Rights Act. That's an appropriate thing for the Supreme Court to do -- but it wouldn't have been appropriate for the District Court to make that kind of interpretation.
Anyway, it's kind of reaching if one sees the Supreme Court ruling as any kind of condemnation of Sotomayor, if only because that ruling was from a three-judge panel, and their ruling was unanimous.

Judge Sotomayor seems to be involved in this story only briefly in 2000, after Deskovic's lawyer mistakenly filed his habeas corpus appeal after the deadline, and he was petitioning for an exception to the deadline. Sotomayor -- along with a second judge -- denied that petition for deadline extension. It's really far-fetched to conclude their decision was motivated by racial discrimination.
So Jeffrey Deskovic himself recognizes that this was an application of procedure that didn't go his way -- it was NOT an instance of racial discrimination. Though I can understand his frustration, because the impact of that choice caused him to stay in prison for six more years.
Frankly, your assertions that this is an instance of anti-white racism are unsupported by the facts.
There are dozens of well-researched articles about Sarah Palin's treachery and her egotism. If you haven't seen any of these, you've been living in a cave for the past year.
My point is that even conservatives -- especially conservatives -- should reject Sarah Palin as a false prophet.

Look at the Constitution of the United States as an example. Under the Articles of Confederation, the states surrendered so little liberty that the central government was powerless and effectively no government existed. The Constitution created a central government with sufficient power to carry out its purposes in its creation. This did require the states to surrender more liberty.
In todays parlance progressiveism (liberalism) is the movement which advocates for more government, less liberty. Conservatism seeks to stop this creep toward more government and try to move toward more liberty.
